What to wear in autumn
After one of our hottest summers ever in the UK, we’re winding down in to autumn.
But it’s a shame not to take advantage of the dry days still, even if it’s getting a bit cooler. Not only is it a joy to get those last rays of sun in the great outdoors, but the vitamin D they bring with them is a positive for our health.
So we were delighted to be offered some stylish and warm knitwear to review from Cotton Traders. There’s something for everyone on their site, but we chose to cuddle up in two styles.
Cardis
We thought these soft and cosy cardigans would be great for sitting out in the garden planning next year’s planting.
These cardis come in a range of colours, and we chose a beautifully vibrant Jade Green and a more sedate Navy.
Made with 50% viscose, 29% polyester and 21% polyamide, they do feel like they’re made to last. Can be machine washed. instructions suggest washing separately – though I’m not too good at obeying that one – with the buttons closed and inside out. No tumble drying but reshape and dry flat instead and a cool iron if needed. Made in Thailand. Spare button provided. The Cutest Cable Cardi £32
Coatigan
It’s not quite a full coat and it’s not as soft as the cable-knit cardis, but this is a nice in-between jacket for popping out for a coffee in the local garden centre. Or if you’re driving to the shops and just want something a little warmer without overheating, this could make a great choice. It actually put me in mind of my mother’s car coat when I was a child and heating in the car wasn’t all that it is now.
In the image I’ve teamed the with a handmade overnight bag ready for a last-gasp autumnal weekend away.
There’s one big button and a fair gap at the front, so you might want to team it with a smart scarf and gloves if you’re likely to be outside for any time. There’s a useful pocket for car keys and phone. The coat is 100% polyester. It’s machine washable but recommendation is to reshape and dry flat after wash. It can be can be ironed.
