How to truly clock off when you work from home

Collaborative Post
Working from home is quite a genius way to live your life. You don’t have to leave the house to achieve career success, and you’ve got a lot more flexibility in the way you use your working hours.
Indeed, you could do the 9 to 5 or the 5 to 9 or even the 7 to 10 and no one bats an eyelid! You can just simply do the work where you want and in a way that suits you!
But with all those benefits being said, there are some drawbacks to working from home. The biggest one of all is the blurring of the lines between your work life and your home life. They’re one and the same and they become hard to separate.
So let’s go through a few of the best ways to truly ‘clock off’ when you work from home.
Get Yourself a Second Phone
You don’t want your work notifications to light up the same phone that all your loved ones use to contact you as well. When you only have the one phone to handle the whole load, you’re going to be ten times more hypervigilant about checking your notifications and that’s no way to live!
That’s why the first thing to do is get yourself a second phone. It doesn’t need to be a proper, top of the range smartphone either. Just something you can use to read your emails, respond to a ‘teams’ message here and there, and switch off when you don’t need it anymore.
Confine Work to a Single Space
And it better not be your bedroom! Working and sleeping in the same space is a killer for the separation of life and work. If you get up, go to work, log off, and then go to sleep all in the same 10 square meters, you’re going to find it impossible to keep them apart!
Make yourself an office somewhere else in your home. You don’t need a whole room for it, but if you can spare one, that’d be great!
Have Wind-down Time
Wind-down time is the best thing to do after work. It ensures you’re feeling the come down of getting away from the laptop and being able to shut the door on your work life. Only, this come down doesn’t come with the same sense of anxiety and ‘ugh, I have to do that all again tomorrow’.
Take at least an hour after work to just let yourself be. Apply a bit of self-care to the equation, and do what you need to do to truly relax as well.
Pop some thc cbd gummies to get the last of that work-fuel out of your system. Settle down with some lo-fi music and a good book you know you can get lost in for a bit. Relax, take the weight off, and tune out properly!
Finding it hard to ‘clock off’ when you work from home? You’re not alone! But it can be done!
